Arrival & Dismissal

School begins at 9:20 a.m.

and is dismissed at 3:50 p.m.

Students may arrive at school at 9:05 a.m.

Students may arrive at school in the morning on their bus or 15 minutes before the start of school if they are being dropped off by a family member. Before school, students line up outside their classroom door or outside their unit. This is a good time for students to socialize with one another, read, or play a quiet game. Students may stand or sit outside, but since space is limited, we ask that they stay in their designated classroom area until school begins. There is adult supervision in the courtyard at this time.

There is no supervision on the playground after school. If you are late picking up your child, please come to the front office, where they will be waiting. If students are on the playground after school, they need to be supervised by an adult.

When you come to Sherwood, please come and check in at the office:

  • Please come to the office to sign in and let us know that you are here
  • You will need to sign out your child in the office if they are picked up early. While we are happy to accommodate early dismissals, we ask that you keep early dismissals to a minimum, as we don't want children to miss important learning opportunities.
  • If you are coming to volunteer, please sign in at the office as well.

Late Arrival/Early Dismissal

Students who arrive late to school need to check in at the office for a late slip. If you need to pick up your child early from school, please let the office know as soon as possible, and come to the office to pick up your child. While arriving late and leaving early is sometimes unavoidable, please be aware that missing school days and parts of school days affects your child's education. The more students are in school, the more they will learn! Please keep late arrivals and early dismissals to a minimum.
